    A day in the life:

    • You will own the operational health of the Microsoft Office 365 information environment
    • You will be responsible for the administration, support and configuration of the environment

    • You will train and educate end-users on Microsoft Office 365 capabilities to drive new ways of working

    We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Research Fellow to be responsible for undertaking an exciting, multiple-disciplinary research project  – rhizobial carriers and symbiotic nitrogen fixation in agricultural ecosystems. This role will involve developing and accessing alternative rhizobial carriers for enhancing biological nitrogen fixation and improving soil performance. The Research Fellow will work collaboratively with other team members as well as external stakeholders and partners (researchers, agronomist and farmers). This role includes undertaking both laboratory experiment and glasshouse trials.

    This is a fixed term (12 months), full-time position based at the Nathan campus.

    About you
    The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent qualifications/work experience in Material Science (e.g., biopolymers), Microbiology, Soil Science, or relevant field.  You will have demonstrated research experience in examining the critical surface properties (physical, chemical and biological) of microbial carrier materials using advanced chemical and spectral approaches, including a publication record.  The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to conduct collaborative research in multidisciplinary and/or multi-institutional teams.

    Salary range
    Research Fellow, Grade 1:  $83,510 - $86,579 per annum plus superannuation.

    About the role

    At BDO, Data Analytics forms an integral part of our broader Consulting team which focuses on a range of services including Strategy and Transformation; Technology, Digital and Data; and Human Capital.

    As a Data Analyst, you will be working with your Consulting team members to deliver analytical work which underpins strategic and operational decision making for a range of clients across the public and private sectors.

    You will be dealing with clients at a technical, operational and management level. You must project confidence in your abilities, be able to develop good working relationships and earn the trust of the data system owners and administrators at client sites.

    From time to time, you will also be doing analytics work for engagements with BDO’s other service lines such as Audit, Tax, Risk Advisory and Corporate Finance.

    Some of your key responsibilities include:

    • Data sourcing, extraction, transformation and analysis for different client projects
    • Mapping out and documenting system and/or project requirements
    • Liaison with client data and business specialists
    • Documentation of data extraction and transformation processes used
    • Devising and performing unit tests for data analytics processes
    • Testing of data analytics outcomes for consistency and accuracy
    • Assisting with the administration of our data analytics as a service offering. Includes cloud servers, database and analytics package administration

    • In depth knowledge of at least one data analytics package (e.g. Tibco Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, SAS)
    • Experience in cleansing, joining and analysing different data sets and using novel methods to extract value out of data sets
    • Commitment to data accuracy, traceability and repeatability, by adhering to company data work standards and methodology. Be able to assist in enhancing these standards and methodologies
    • Be able to provide quality assurance via review and testing the work of your peers and provide constructive feedback and solutions. In turn, be able to assist others with quality assistance of your work.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.

    Highly Desirable Criteria:

    • Experience with data preparation tools (e.g. Alteryx, Power Query, Power Pivot, Excel)
    • Experience with issue tracking software (e.g. Jira, Bugzilla)
    • Experience with version control software (e.g. git, SVN, CVS, TFS, Mercurial)
    • Strong non-SQL programming experience (e.g. Python, R, C-family)
    • Be able to identify external data sources, proxy data and indicators where direct data is not available
    • Ability to think strategically about all parts of an organisation, and matching data to organisational strategy. We service a wide variety of organisations and data types.
    • Data science experience in statistics, machine learning, big data, and predictive analytics
    • MSSQL administrative skills
    • Accessing data from external systems via REST, SOAP etc.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors of Information Technology or other relevant tertiary qualification (analytics, engineering, mathematics, science, statistics, economics, commerce etc.)

    Skills & Experience;

    This role requires a Data Engineer (Cloud) experienced in cloud technology to join our growing Citizen Data Science (CDS) team. Working with leading edge cloud computing technology this role is responsible for managing and extending the Woodside datalake to be the source of truth system for data science and other business applications.

    You will use your strong communication skills to work in agile projects with niche vendor groups to determine data enable requirements and deliver solutions.

    This is a 2 year fixed term contract position based in our head office in Perth, Western Australia.

    Duties & Responsibilities;

    • Play product owner role in distributed agile development teams developing new systems to expand datalake (Amazon Web services) functionality using cloud computing solutions
    • Engage with a diverse group of stakeholders to determine data enablement requirements
    • Manage and maintain the data life cycle in datalake and enterprise data warehouse platforms
    • Ensure level two support teams are enabled to monitor our systems and support users
    • Manage and execute data enablement projects
    • Mentor and coach junior team members to help build capability within our Data science team

    Skills & Experience;

    • Demonstrated skills using RDMS Database and other database technologies such as SQL server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL
    • Previous experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud experience specifically in Relational Database Services (RDS), S3 storage and Elastic Map Reduce (EMR) services. Familiarity with the process of deploying these services as part of a Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) stack is required
    • Extensive experience with Hadoop based datastores like Hbase and Presto
    • Experience of working with Distributed Agile teams following Scrum methodologies including story elaboration, planning and estimation and stand-ups
    • Experience interacting with business users and working in operational support environments

    • Plan, organise and monitor application design including ideation, prototypes and interaction design
    • Work in partnership with the Software and Integration Manager and application developers to ensure solution design aspects are consistent with Digital technology vision and roadmap
    • Work in partnership with the business led Strategic Technology Managers to ideate, explore and adopt a design first approach to solution design with the organisation
    • Work in partnership with the Digital Technology Portfolio lead to ensure all delivery activities consider integration into Woodside’s cognitive adviser
    • Architect the user experience of Woodside’s cognitive adviser program
    • Promote reusable, sustainable approaches to solution design
    • Develop and review design scopes of work for outsourced engagements, ensuring solutions delivered meet Woodside Engineering Standards

    Skills & Experience;

    • Extensive experience in senior design/creative roles (including agency environments)
    • Demonstrated experience in software solution design including; User Experience and User Interface
    • Previous experience in graphic design, solution design for cognitive systems and Artificial Intelligence interfaces
    • Demonstrate a good understanding of humanistic behaviour with respect to systems and design thinking practices and tools
