Griffith Sciences is one of the four academic groups of the University and has an international reputation for excellence in learning and teaching, research and professional practice. The Group hosts three schools – Engineering and Built Environment, Information and Communication Technology, and Environment and Sciences along with five research institutes and three centres.

The School of Environment and Science offers a comprehensive range of environmental and science programs which include options to combine data science with the common science majors to better equip our graduates for the digitally enabled workplace of the future. For example, the technical team within the School of Environment and Science.

The opportunity

We are currently looking for a Senior Scientific Officer to be responsible for supporting the research and teaching infrastructure at the School’s Gold Coast campus. The primary focus of this role is to maintain high-value equipment, train users on diverse equipment and provide guidance on H&S matters. This role includes supporting teaching activities and facilitating the maintenance of building infrastructure. Success in this role requires collaboration with various elements of the University, the main ones being Campus Life, People & Wellbeing, Research Centres aligned with the School, and external providers.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Gold Coast campus.

About you

To be successful within this role, you will require a high level of communication, interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills, combined with a demonstrated knowledge of using and maintaining modern analytical equipment. You have evidence of a passion for being able to utilise equipment to its full potential and training others to do the same. You also have a strong desire to build a career within an educational organisation that supports both research and teaching activities.

Salary range

HEW Level 6:  $76,472 - $81,642 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $89,472 - $95,522 per annum.
