The opportunity

We currently have an exciting open term, full time opportunity at our Brisbane office for an experienced Technical Lead – Liquid Markets to work directly with the Global Multi-Asset and Global Liquid Strategies investment teams to deliver business-aligned Technology Solutions to drive the overall performance.

Reporting to the Manager Applications Development (Business Systems), this role will collaborate with the business and the delivery team to develop an end-to-end solution. You will also be responsible for a managing and developing a squad of high-performing technical resources with deep domain knowledge of investment products (i.e. interest rates, credit, inflation and currency markets) to effectively design, develop, test and release to production.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Working with the business on Continuous Improvement activities to automate and standardise processes through the smart use of technology tools
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for increased operational efficiencies particularly where there is a quantifiable business benefit
  • Providing clarity to the business on costs of technology services and demonstrate the value to them
  • Helping to drive an overall capability uplift across technology teams by leveraging DevOps tooling and ensuring that automation across the delivery lifecycle is in focus
  • Working with key stakeholders to formulate a Roadmap of Technology change that will support further growth of the business

The ideal candidate

To be considered as a strong candidate, you will have:

  • 10 years’ experience within the Financial Services industry with broad and deep knowledge of Financial Markets products
  • Understanding of Portfolio construction and the risk and return characteristics of the underlying investments
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of Software Delivery Lifecycle, using Agile delivery methods to support this
  • Interest and ability to solve business problems with a hands-on approach, delivering in iterations
  • Knowledge of IT system architectures and design principles to deliver solutions
  • Experience in leading small teams and working with the Product Owner (business) to plan the ongoing change agenda
  • Solid grounding in the fundamentals of APIs, data management and storage (e.g. DBA skills), basics of cloud computing, batch scripting and mathematical programming
  • Familiar with Cloud based infrastructure leveraging MS Azure and AWS
  • A strong background in applying mathematical and analytics approaches and methodologies to identifying complex relationships in data
  • Excellent knowledge of Matlab with exposure to one of Blackrock Aladdin, Bloomberg, DataStream
  • Ability to design/architect software by using Object Oriented principles
  • Experience with C#, C++, Java and working knowledge of SQL (Oracle environment)
  • Strong ability to establish robust and user-friendly processes and procedures to drive standardisation and efficiency
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and inspiring people to do their best work
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
