Much of this research is undertaken within the Australian Rivers Institute (ARI), which has become Australia’s pre-eminent freshwater, catchment and coastal research enterprise, with over 150 staff and research higher degree students with expertise across a broad range of disciplines including aquatic ecology, biogeochemistry, geomorphology, social sciences, economics and law.

The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced fluvial geomorphologist to develop and lead a programme of research on river and/or catchment physical processes as an Associate Professor (Level D) within the Australian Rivers Institute.  Following an initial three-year research intensive appointment, the incumbent will transition to a balanced academic role with teaching responsibilities in the School of Environment and Science.  

This is a continuing, full time position based at the University’s Nathan campus.

About you
To be successful within this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and significant research experience in river and/or catchment physical processes with, ideally, an interest in catchment and river restoration. You will have an outstanding track record in publications and grant success, together with the skills and leadership in teaching and curriculum development at the tertiary education level. You will be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills and the commitment to work in a collegial manner to build your career within the Australian Rivers Institute and School of Environment and Science.

Salary range
Associate Professor (Level D): $139,183 - $153,337.  Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $162,845 - $179,405 per annum.
