We now have an exciting opportunity to become part of our Finance and Technology team as a Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Manager, based in our Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne offices on a permanent basis.

Reporting directly to the Value Stream Manager – Asset Information, this role serves as the primary liaison for business leaders in Geospatial Information Technology. The successful candidate will drive innovation to meet evolving business needs, foster trusted relationships, and lead the development of strategic technology roadmaps to ensure continuous improvement. Additionally, this role oversees a dedicated team managing GIS systems, ensuring operational and financial efficiency, robust governance, and comprehensive lifecycle support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation and implement new technologies to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with GIS business systems leaders.
  • Lead the development of strategic programs of work and technology roadmaps to support continuous improvement in operations and infrastructure delivery.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Senior Systems Analysts, Systems Analysts, and Business Analysts to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Oversee the GIS Systems portfolio, ensuring financial forecasting, contract management, and service delivery efficiency.
  • Implement robust solution assurance practices and ensure seamless handover to business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of system documentation, including technical and monitoring processes, to support lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technical teams to deliver high-quality GIS solutions.
  • Champion governance frameworks to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

  • Identifies, builds and develops team talent and capability, including a pipeline of talent for key positions.
  • Lead and oversee a team of application specialists, facilitating effective communication, coaching and development to ensure that individuals can achieve their full potential across BAU and projects.
  • Encourages individual development of skills and capabilities. Facilitates the development of individuals and plays an active role in recruitment, reward and performance management. Accountability Area Application Management
  • Lead and facilitate Business engagement pertaining to new, emerging and ongoing business, jointly develop and agreeing requirements relating to change.
  • Lead Technology team engaging with business leaders to manage current and future state systems and process.
  • Manage a team that designs, develops, and tests technology solutions related to GIS Systems
  • Develop and mature tools that support the preparation of designs, estimates and planning for any enhancement or development delivered by the GIS team.
  • Deliver and Maintain development standards and guidelines.
  • Design, develop, and maintain a prioritised plan that will ensure continuous improvement outcomes that are aligned with Business improvement KPI’s.
  • Explore the Applications lifecycle and provide insight and planning that will form part of the strategic investment plan and roadmap activity.
