We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Cloud Platform Engineer based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane on a full-time permanent basis.
The Cloud Platform Engineer is a hands-on role focused on building, maintaining, uplifting and securing APA's cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. Working at the direction of the Platform Owner, this role involves automating infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, providing technical support to users and creating reusable architecture patterns to accelerate and standardise platform adoption and usage.
This position is crucial for maintaining the robustness and security of APA's cloud infrastructure, ensuring it meets the organisation's needs and industry standards. Is critical for creating a seamless customer experience, enabling workload teams to onboard efficiently and use the platform's capabilities productively. A focus on modern DevOps practices and AWS best practices will be essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Development & Uplift:Â Design, implement, and maintain AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, IAM); build reusable IaC templates; ensure platform scalability and performance.
- Cloud Security: Apply and enhance cloud security controls; monitor and respond to incidents.
- Customer Enablement:Â Support solution teams with onboarding, training, and well-architected designs; publish reusable architecture patterns.
- Technical Support: Provide expert support for AWS services and resolve issues.
- Governance & Collaboration:Â Ensure compliance with standards; collaborate with teams to maintain reliable and efficient cloud environments.
Your Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g.EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, EKS) and IaC tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of DevSecOps/CI-CD tools (e.g., GitLab, Hashicorp Vault, Prisma CNAPP).
- Experience designing landing zones, governance frameworks, and high-availability architectures.
- Extensive experience in IT, with AWS Cloud Engineer in large-scale environments.
- Proven track record in operational cloud management, observability, and agile processes.
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly.
