The bdna Products team of business analysts, software developers, engineers, testers and forensic subject matter experts work closely with law enforcement and forensic laboratories to improve forensic service delivery through specialist products.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining bdna’s cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform.
You will be a specialist in Azure/Cloud infrastructure. You will operate as part of the DevOps team but collaborate across other internal teams and will have a deep understanding of Azure services, infrastructure as code and a proven track record of successfully deploying and managing Azure environments.
You will be working as part of a diverse team of talented professionals and subject matter experts and be partnering with some of the most pioneering software firms in the country.

What’ll you do
- Maintain bdna technical infrastructure, environments, and tooling
- Design and Provisioning – gathering requirements and providing recommendations for the infrastructure required
- Security – ensuring that all active infrastructure complies with internal security policies and the constantly evolving industry security standards, e.g. ISM
- Performance – ensuring that all active infrastructure is performing at a level that meets our client obligations and expectations
- Optimisation and Configuration – constantly monitoring our active (and emerging) infrastructure to ensure that is optimised for performance and cost, as well as continuous improvement to ensure that we take advantage of new features and remain at the forefront of infrastructure technology
- Review and manage all environments maintaining availability, stability and performance in line with internal/external customer expectations
- Implement security best practices in Azure, including identity and access management, network security, encryption and monitoring, in collaboration with security team
- Ensure appropriate monitoring of terms of service, performance, capacity and security for compliance with expected standards to protect bdna and our customers from security risks, compliance concerns, and data breaches
- Design and continuously review the use of features and licences to optimise costs
- Triage and resolve incident management and security compliance issues related to platforms and environments
- Participate where appropriate in aspects of DevOps Engineering and promote industry standard methodologies in DevOps Engineering with a particular focus on security
What you’ve got
- Significant experience with the creation and deployment of services on Azure, through continuous CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement SaaS infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and optimise automation systems and procedures to maintain the platform and data, including the use of Infrastructure as Code
- Experience in setting up and maintaining the following Azure Infrastructure: Azure SQL, Application Gateways, Virtual Networks (NSG’s, Routes, Private Endpoints etc), App Services, Function Apps, Storage Accounts, Virtual Machines (Windows and Linux), Azure Firewall, Key Vaults and managing Azure Entra/AD
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A high level of analytical thinking and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical clients
- Ability to manage tasks effectively while dealing with multiple customer needs

Qualifications/Certifications
- Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or related field
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
- At least three years relevant experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Security as Code (Terraform or Bicep)
- Azure Cloud Deployment experience
- Experience working with public sector organisations, particularly public safety would be highly desirable.

- Must be located in Brisbane
- Baseline or NV1 security clearance preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances
