We are seeking a Support and Training Officer with a background in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation or related fields, to provide support to end-users of the EcoCommons platform. This role handles requests for support for core systems and supporting business changes, subject to broad direction and guidance. Because the EcoCommons program provides tools and analytics for ecological and environmental modelling, support will be related to helping users and customers configure their models, run them and access and pro-process suitable environmental data. Other responsibilities of this role are to co-develop and deliver learning material for the EcoCommons’ training initiative - EcoEd together with the EcoCommons team.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Specialist advice - Assisting with software testing and maintaining systems and services in the cloud environments
Application support - Providing support to any technical aspects of new customers and developing user support articles as ‘how to’ resources
Problem management - Investigating problems in systems, processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures under collaboration with the development team.
Incident management - Logging all reported bugs/feature requests in the IT Support database
Customer service support - contributing to user support documentation, training videos and training course material as needed
Learning co-design and delivery - developing and delivering end-user training, both online and in person to a variety of audiences.

The mission of the EcoCommons as a national digital innovation program is to be the platform of choice for ecological and environmental problem solving. It’s vision is to empower Australian practitioners and researchers to have access to trusted, world-leading ecological and environmental modelling tools.

This is a fixed term (March 2023), full time position and can be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan or Gold Coast campus. Griffith University is a multi-campus university and therefore it is understood that this position will work across campuses as required.

About you

To be successful within this role you will be a self-motivated individual with a sound and hands on knowledge in ecological and environmental modelling. Preferably you will be a postgraduate, recent PhD graduate or early PostDoc in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Conservation or related fields with solid experience in ecological and environmental modelling. Experience in running species distribution models in the software R is a prerequisite. You will have highly developed oral and written communication skills including, public speaking, interpersonal skills and the ability to research and prepare reports, presentations and training material to a wide range of audiences including government officials, researchers and funding agencies.

Success in this role requires collaboration with the EcoCommons development team, our collaborators, and multiple external stakeholders such as funding partners and users from academia, government, industry and eNGO. A thorough understanding of environmental science and experience in working with environmental data along with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts and ideas is essential.

There may be opportunities to author / co-author scientific papers requiring exceptional journalistic and/or scientific writing skills.

Salary range

We are seeking a Change and Communications Manager to lead the outreach and adoption elements of the national environmental modelling platform, EcoCommons. The primary focus of this role is to lead stakeholder engagement, develop strategic partnerships and manage a skills development program designed to maximise platform adoption.

The Change and Communication Manager will undertake effective stakeholder engagement such as roadmapping exercises and consultations with users and partners of the platform from research, government, industry and the environmental NGO sector to scope out the community needs for ecological and environmental modelling. A key deliverable will be the development and implementation of communications and business strategies to build the public profile and professional image of EcoCommons and its user-centric services. A focus of this role is to consult with partners and stakeholders in order to scope out and define impact pathways which could lead to long-term sustainability of the EcoCommons program beyond its current funding end in 2023. Other responsibilities of this role are to co-develop learning material for the EcoCommons’ training initiative EcoEd together with the EcoCommons team.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Relationship management - Build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders, facilitate workshops, organise open consultations and enable discussion

Change implementation planning and management - Lead and promote the adoption of the platform across institutions. Build the public profile and professional image of the platform.

Business development - Consult with partners and key stakeholders to scope out pathways for impact which could lead to a long-term sustainability and commercialisation of some of the EcoCommons services with a focus on their adoption by industry

Learning material design - Prepare learning activities such as training and skills development workshops and education resources on technical content for a variety of audiences including university students and educators, researchers, and industry and government professionals

User experience analysis - develop and coordinate the user support function for the platform. This includes identifying user needs, developing support strategies and reporting on user experience and uptake.

Communications management - develop and deliver engaging marketing and communications activities and stakeholder engagement plans across internal and external channels such as organisational updates, case studies, social media content, blog posts, and videos.

About you
To be successful within this role you will be a highly energetic and self-motivated person who has the ability to plan and deliver a communications and engagement strategy as well as training for a range of stakeholders and users.

Importantly, you will have highly developed oral and written communication skills including, public speaking, interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to research and prepare reports, presentations and documents to a wide range of audiences including government officials, researchers and funding agencies.

Success in this role requires collaboration with the EcoCommons development team, our collaborators, and multiple external stakeholders such as funding partners and users from academia, government, industry and eNGO. As you will be working with senior scientific advisors from academia and governmental agencies, an understanding of environmental science and experience in working with environmental data along with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts and ideas would be desirable. Knowledge of the needs of environmental agencies and eNGOs and their strategies and policies, as well as an established network in the environmental space would be desirable.

Due to the sub regional focus of the role, you will be required to work shifts (9am-5.30pm or 12.30pm-9pm).

Continuous Improvement of the Test Automation Framework and Automation Practices
Develop test scripts that maximise the automation and reusability of test across various systems and solutions
Work collaboratively with our Test Manager and Test Guild along with our Senior Leadership within the Test and Development space
Creating best practice standards and approaches that are fit for purpose for our organisation
Uplifting the technical capability of other team members

About the Team

The IS Development Team is responsible for ensuring that quality software solutions are delivered across Super Retail Group. The team is responsible for ensuring consistent, quality software or coded solutions are delivered utilising best practices which include Unit Testing, Code Review and CI/CD operations.

To be successful in this role

Have strong leadership and influencing skills
You will be seasoned in Test Automation practices with a demonstrated experience in developing Test Automation Frameworks
Experience with Selenium WebDriver and a strong understanding of the Selenium Framework
Have Automation Scripting skills using Python, NUnit, Selenium, ABAUnit, JUnit
A strong understanding of Agile Methodologies
Familiarity with cloud capabilities and concepts including automation, CI/CD and elastic growth
Qualifications in the following areas would be advantageous – Agile/Scrum, ISTQB Certified Tester and Test Automation Engineer
