About the role

We are looking for a Specialist – Business Continuity to assist ensure IS&T’s business continuity and recovery capabilities are appropriately designed, established, tested, maintained, and operating effectively to minimise the time to restore critical IS&T services and ensure appropriate and timely communications of service disruption. The role supports enterprise, regional and industrial & operational systems and technology related services supporting business critical systems enabling key business processes.

This role is a great opportunity to join a team with a true focus on IT & OT operational stability for a leading global resources company undergoing digital transformation, where you will drive improvements to the resilience and recovery capabilities for our critical systems through the processes and people relationships you will own and manage. Reporting to the Manager Business Continuity, you will:

  • Design, plan, implement, maintain, test and continuously improve activities within the business continuity processes for IS&T
  • Set, monitor and measure key performance indicators to ensure compliance to business continuity processes
  • Implement and maintain strategies to encourage compliance to business continuity processes
  • Report on overall health of business continuity processes to IS&T Leadership
  • Propose and drive business continuity process improvements, assisting develop and implement a roadmap of business continuity process improvement initiatives
  • Ensure changes to business continuity processes are updated, embedded and communicated to both Rio Tinto and vendors
  • Ensure process to capture, review and maintain business critical services established, including participation in business system risk and impact assessment activities (SIA), and improving detection triggers for new business critical systems
  • Assist establish key controls operation, monitoring and remediation tracking for business critical systems
  • Ensure effective and efficient response for adversely impacted critical services to minimise restoration of services and ensure effective communications across vendors, and Rio Tinto, including IT operations, business and end-users
  • Assist maintain IS&T's business continuity management plan (BRMP) for critical services
  • Provide implementation, testing and training of IS&T BRMP
  • Involvement in technology improvements to support business continuity processes

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • 5+ years relevant practical experience, including as a business continuity process specialist, driving and improving quality of process
  • A natural curiosity and passion around process and improving the way we work, with an emphasis on looking for collaborative ways to succeed within a matrixed team
  • Sound knowledge of IT business continuity planning, preparation, testing and execution sub-process activities and governance
  • Knowledge and application of tools used within an IT organisation
  • Excellent teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in highly deadline driven environment

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Working with multiple stakeholders, in multiple geographic regions & cultures
  • Sound understanding of ITSM methodologies – ITIL Intermediate or higher training
  • An understanding of IT industry third party service arrangements, including cloud services & outsourced IT services
  • Relevant professional qualifications in business, accounting, finance, computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related discipline
