The opportunity

We currently have an exciting open term, full time opportunity at our Brisbane office for an experienced Technical Analyst – Liquid Markets will support the successful delivery of technical solutions to meet the needs of our Global Multi-Asset and Global Liquid Strategies investment teams.

Reporting to the Manager Quality Assurance, this role will understand and translate business needs into data models and requirement specifications (Functional and Non-Functional) supporting long-term solutions that align to QIC’s business and technology strategies.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Liquid Markets systems, such that user training can be provided, system documentation created, and future enhancement strategies recommended.
  • Working with delivery team members to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models.
  • Creating and optimising logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.
  • Performing reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.
  • High-level sizing of specific requests, categorizing requirements and provide input to the prioritization of demands.
  • Leading BI initiatives and develop reporting solution using BI tools.
  • Collaborating with the delivery team to define the overall testing strategy and plan; define the testing approach and scenarios for requirements.
  • Undertaking appropriate systems testing and provide guidance and support to QIC system users in the execution of user acceptance testing.

The ideal candidate

To be considered as a strong candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a technical business analyst within a Financial Services company i.e. Bank, Investment Manager
  • Good working knowledge of Financial Markets products i.e. Interest Rates, FX, Credit and Inflation and value chain
  • Ability to translate business requirements to technical and functional specifications with a focus on Data and Integration, utilising an ALM tool
  • Ability to define, develop and maintain data model that meet business needs
  • Ability to analyse impact, identify dependencies data processes and ensure cross-functional and solution coherency
  • Strong technical architecture expertise to work with data owners to define and implement data strategy polices, governance, data quality rules framework and control
  • Structural and methodologic experience in data modelling tools such as ER/Studio
  • Experience with RDBMS (SQL, PostgreSQL & PL/SQL) and data modelling (Data Vault, Star/Snowflake, 3rd normal form)
  • An “Agile testing mind-set” that is customer-focused, results-oriented and delivering business value in a timely manner
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across both technology and business teams at all levels
  • Excellent client service utilising well developed written and verbal communication skills, and applying good stakeholder management
