You will be a purpose-driven, trusted advisor in the business in providing strategic and complex power systems engineering analysis and solutions to ensure that the transmission network is operated in a safe, secure, reliable and compliant manner.
- Leads subject matter expert knowledge, together with industry standing and relationships, to:
- Provide network capacity and capability analysis, including the related development of strategic options and offering expert subject matter advice on the delivery of alternate network solutions, and remedial strategies to achieve optimum outcomes for all stakeholders and compliance with the NER.
- Provide advice on generation outlooks and demand/supply balance within Queensland and across the NEM.
- Provide detailed forensic analysis and post-event reviews on critical network or market conditions giving advice to maintain a resilient and operable transmission network.
- Development and publishing of strategic operational philosophy and standards to continuously improve the operational efficiency of the network and ensure compliance with the NER.
- Provision of operations engineering support, including power system security advice, electricity market impact assessments, complex analyses and contingency planning for planned and forced outages of transmission plant to ensure efficient operation of the network and compliance with the NER.
- Seek methods of simplifying the complex operation of the network to support efficient and effective operation of the transmission network with an aim to managing the cognitive demand of real-time operations to achieve optimised network operation.
- Lead the provision of analysis and advice on complex aspects of the operation of the transmission network in the National Electricity Market (NEM)
- Proactively build and maintain effective relationships with relevant stakeholders, including customers, AEMO and the AER.
What you’ll bring
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Register Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
- Experience providing technical expertise in Network Operations.
- Significant experience in power systems engineering, analysis, and operations
- Demonstrated ability to manage and apply expert knowledge in the real time operation, analysis and review of power transmission system networks including complex power system behaviour and characteristics of physical transmission elements.
- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of primary plant characteristics, protection, communications, SCADA and other secondary systems used to operate, monitor, control and protect the transmission network.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise Energy Management Systems and / or other technologies to model power systems including the ability to plan, analyse and operate electrical power transmission systems within an electricity market based environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and apply knowledge of power system security and market impact assessments and fault level studies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects including developing structured team/project plans, managing and mitigating risks, monitoring progress, and effectively engaging resources to achieve required outcomes within agreed budget and timeframes.

- Demonstrated ability to manage and apply knowledge of power system security and market impact assessments and fault level studies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects including developing structured team/project plans, managing and mitigating risks, monitoring progress, and effectively engaging resources to achieve required outcomes within agreed budget and timeframes.
