We now have an exciting opportunity for an OT Cyber Security Engineer to join OT Engineering team in Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting directly to the OT Engineering Team Lead - SCADA and OT Cyber, you will provide engineering design, development, implementation, and support services for OT technologies used at APA, including ClearSCADA and AlarmPT. This role emphasizes OT cybersecurity engineering tasks to ensure the security and integrity of operational technology systems, such as industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and other critical infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities specific to OT environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce design and specifications as required adhering to endorsed standards particularly designing secure network architectures for industrial control systems
  • Provide engineering supervision on OT Cybersecurity works, including supervision of associated commodity Enterprise Cybersecurity works.
  • Conduct security risk assessments (IEC 62443, etc.) and vulnerability analyses on OT systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate security risks and threats to OT infrastructure.
  • Design cybersecurity controls design and implement security controls and safeguards, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection as per the approved cybersecurity controls design solution and adhering to Change Management processes.
  • Support in addressing OT Cybersecurity audits, risks and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity standards including organisation standards, regulations, and frameworks (e.g., AES-CSF IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and internal auditors during security audits and assessments.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to enhance overall cybersecurity posture.
  • Programming/configuration and configuration activities of OT systems as specified in approved design ensuring OT security requirements are met.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest OT cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threat intelligence.
  • Resolution of defects including interfacing with users and ensuring timely handovers to Operations.
  • Fault finding to support operations when required.
  • Liaise as required with internal suppliers and customers as required.
  • Support OT Cybersecurity aspects of OT Engineering Projects and Secure Energy Projects, and manage small projects end to end.

Your background

  • Tertiary qualification in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Three (Plus) years' experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on OT environments or industrial control systems for gas transmission, gas processing, LNG, chemical processing, power generation, utilities or associated industries.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, Australian and international codes and standards.
  • A working knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety legislative requirements.
  • Client focused with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Professional Registration with Engineers Australia as Professional Engineer in relevant field
  • Professional certifications such as IEC62443, CISSP, CISM, GICSP, SANS, or equivalent would be an advantage.
