About the Role
Within the NHVR’s Data and Technology division, our Data Engineering team is breaking new ground in big data pipeline management. Our work is used in real world environments to reduce fatalities and serious injury on Australian roads.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced programmer and app developer to join the team as our vital DevOps Engineer. At a high level, you will develop code pipelines using Azure DevOps, assist developers in releasing their code, undertake system troubleshooting, and design new deployments while maintaining current deployments.
Operating within an agile project management environment, the DevOps Engineer conducts their own requirements gathering and facilitates stakeholder meetings accordingly. Security-mindedness and the continuous practise of DevSecOps is a critical part of the role.

This is a permanent, full time position based in our Brisbane, Melbourne of Parramatta office.
About You
You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the IT industry, including programming and app development. You also hold a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
Experience and certification in Azure DevOps is essential, along with programming experience using C# and PowerShell. Strong proficiency in Git version control system and experience utilising ITSM is also required.
You have a sense of virtual presence and can work virtually with a national development team. Critical to your success will be your high-level ambition and critical thinking to think abstractly and come up with solutions to new problems.
While the role has no direct reports, you will share your technical understanding and provide guidance to our developers. You will possess strong technical writing skills and practise effective oral communication as you interact with relevant stakeholders, including team members from the broader Data Science and Analytics unit.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 750 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
