Staying well in your research career

Strategies to stay well during your post-doc or research career

Despite all the attractions of a research career, the reality is that many researchers get worn down by the system, the setbacks and the challenges. So if you want to stay well, don’t leave it to chance. You need to look after yourself. There are certainly many things in research that are out of your control like the funding model, the review process, limited positions.  So join us to:

  • Investigate how to deal with uncertainty, focusing on what you can control
  • Saying no is hard, how to consider commitments and how they will impact
  • People are different, consider what you could do to work more effectively with dissimilar styles
  • How to manage cognitive inaccuracies to more rationally assess situations
  • Modify your standards depending on the context
  • You are more than your research, be kind to yourself
